Coffee is our favorite drink right after we wake up, and throughout the day too. It keeps our energy up and helps us stay awake. Coffee and the antioxidants in it can even prevent colon cancer! The antioxidants are part of the chlorine acid we can find in fruits we eat on a daily basis. However, the antioxidants can also cause a hostile reaction if we drink coffee before meals.

Just one cup of black coffee on an empty stomach stimulates the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the digestive tract, especially felt if you suffer from gastritis. This acid decomposes the food in the stomach, and digestive issues caused by it may be expressed in heavier meals which are tough to decompose proteins.

Many health issues may be caused by completely broken down proteins in the body. This causes irritation, bloating, inflammation in the intestines and even colon cancer.

Most doctors claim that coffee shouldn’t be the first thing to consume immediately after waking up, which is a shame as this is exactly the thing we all do in the morning. When you drink coffee on an empty stomach in the morning, the levels of cortisone increase rapidly, so they need time to be stabilized. That’s why it is recommended drinking a cup of coffee at least one hour after waking up and after at least a piece of bread.

Cortisol controls the biological clock and wakefulness. Just a cup of coffee on an empty stomach increases the gastric acid in the stomach and causes bloating or vomiting in some cases. If you don’t have the time for breakfast before coffee, put some milk or butter in the coffee to alleviate the issues.
